ETPA Membership

The General Assembly has given mandate to the Executive. Committee-of the ETPA to accept new members who subscribe to the objectives of the Association and fulfill all the requirements set forth in these articles.

A person, having attained the age of 18, who subscribes to the objectives of the Association and who fulfills the requirements set forth in these Articles of Association shall become a member thereof upon filing the necessary application to this effect to the Executive Committee,

Classes of Membership & Members' Responsibilities

There shall be four types of membership: full membership, student membership, Affiliate Membership and  honorary membership. Details of each membership are described below. 

Full Membership

  1. Membership is open to all who have a minimum of diploma/Level 4 in Tourism Management, Tourism Marketing, Tourism and Development, Tourism Economics and eco-tourism tour guiding, tour operation, hotel and hospitality management and who subscribe to the objectives of the Association.
  2. Members shall pay a registration fee of Birr 00 (two hundred) and an annual membership fee of Birr 500 (five hundred).
  3. Full members shall have the right to take part and vote in the General Assembly of the Association, to elect and be elected to its offices, to receive information on its activities provided, however, that only Ethiopians by nationality and foreigners of Ethiopian origin might be elected as officers of the Association.
  4. Membership is personal to the individual or the institution concerned and as such is not transferable or subject to assignment to third parties,
  5. A full member is entitled to get a single copy of each of the publications of the Association, its subsidiaries, chapters and other organs.

Student Membership

  1. Membership is open to registered students of Tourism Management, Tourism Marketing, Tourism and Development, Tourism Economics and eco-tourism tour guiding, tour operation, hotel and hospitality management in any accredited college and who subscribe to the objectives of the Association.
  2. Student members shall pay a registration and annual membership fee of 50 (thirty) and 60 (one hundred) respectively.
  3. Student members have the right to participate in the activities of the Association but not to elect or be elected to the offices of the Association.
  4. Student members have the right to get a single copy of each publication of the Association.

Affiliate Membership

  1. Affiliate membership is open to all institutions within and outside the country that subscribe to the objectives of the Association which may include but not limited to; tour operators, hotels, tourism colleges and universities, government tourism bodies, media and others engaging in tourism and hospitality.
  2. Affiliate members shall pay a registration fee of Birr 2000 (two thousand) and an annual membership fee of Birr 5000 (three thousand).
  3. Affiliate members have the right, through their designated representatives, to participate in the activities of the Association but not to elect or be elected to the offices of the Association.
  4. Affiliate members have the right to get a single copy of each publication of the Association.

Honorary Membership

  1. Honorary membership is bestowed by the Association on individuals and institutions who have made distinguished contributions to promoting the objectives of the Association and/or to the development of tourism in Ethiopia.
  2. Honorary members shall not pay any fees, but they can assist the association voluntarily.
  3. Honorary members have the right to participate in the activities of the association. They shall not elect and be elected to the offices of the Association
  4. Honorary members have the right to receive a copy of each of all publications of the Association free of charge.

Duties of Members

  • Every member of the Association shall pay the required membership contribution in accordance with the provisions of these Articles of Association.
  • A member shall have the duty to respect the objectives of the Association and to abide by any and all decisions made in accordance with the provisions of these Articles of Association.
  • A member who fails to pay the required membership fees and/or who fails to render the services expected of him to the Association may not avail himself of the rights set forth hereof.
  • A member who abandons membership on his own free will is liable to pay all arrears relating to his membership fees.
  • Full members are bound to attend all meetings of the General Assembly.”

Termination of Membership

Any one of the following conditions shall have the effect of terminating membership:

  1. Death of an individual member.
  2. Dissolution, winding up or deregistration of an institutional member.
  3. Written resignation of a member duly submitted to the Executive Committee.
  4. Dismissal from membership by a court of law or by the relevant organ of the Association for failure to pay membership fees or for violation of the provisions of these Articles of Association,
